blueberries.
i wasn't always a fan.
(excluding some length of time in 7th grade where the ONLY cereal i'd eat was blueberry morning. what a weird little tween!)

but i've grown to like them.

june is their time to shine.
i actually like them raw, and the boy adds them to his daily dose of morning oatmeal. but there are other ways to enjoy these little guys. ways that take them beyond the muffins and pancakes they so often are find themselves in.
the kitchn (part of apartment therapy) has some yummy-sounding blueberry basil ice cream. (or, 'baz-ul' in the UK!)
over at sprouted kitchen,
there's a great recipe for blueberry & cream tarts. even better? the berries aren't cooked.
(btdubs, the photos on this site blow my bokeh-loving mind)
i enjoy fresh fruit so. much. more. than its heated counterpart.
"but it's the summer, and i'm dying of thirst!" you say.
relax.
blueberry lemonade via eliza domestica.
(full disclosure? never read the blog before. but, i'm always down for pretty food pics.)
i like this idea because lemon always brightens things up.
and with that, i say, happy berry season!
just remember to check your teeth after eating these. that skin will get stuck in your teeth like nobody's business. yikes.

side note: when i first posted about seasonal eats, i linked to two resources, neither of which included dc in their list. i checked back recently and field to plate now includes lil ol dc. even if they just link to the farmers' market page, it's progress!
