potw: make a wish

my birthday is around the corner. so is my husband's. and my best friend's. and her kid.

that's a lot of cake.

birthday card roundups are some of my favorites to do because there's a lot to choose from and the selection is always pretty cute.

these are my picks for this year.

and happy birthday to anyone else celebrating!

potw: hilarious

i've posted about all kinds of different letterpress cards, colors and printing treatments over the years, but i've never tipped my hat to the more lighthearted ones.

and these are just a sampling of what's out there.

it's monday and if you're in the dc area, you're probably melting away, so i thought a little humor would be just the thing.

1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6

those arrested development ones are killing me.

potw: what a man

1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8

dad's day is coming, you guys.

i appreciate the no-frills, just-the-facts-please style of the first card.

it's father's day. here's a card.

there's still plenty of time to grab one of these for the fathers and father figures in your life.

potw: foil me once

foil stamping is so cool.

i mean, if i could go back in time, i would have been ALL. OVER. that kraft paper/copper foil combination for our wedding invitations.

it's perfect.

1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8

both of those notecard sets would make for an awesome hostess gift or birthday present.

and just like the last potw, there was so much good stuff to go around, i couldn't narrow down my choices to just six designs.

keep the creative stuff coming. i love it.

potw: mom rules

the mother's day roundup of cards is always one of my favorites every year. there's always so many i want to include. it makes it hard to pick which ones to showcase here.

but i've narrowed it down to eight faves.

1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8

i also included one for a mother to be. that was me this time last year, just about four months pregnant on mother's day and a card like that woulda melted my (at the time) overly sappy heart into a little puddle (FUN WITH HORMONES!)

potw: celebrate

short and sweet today: a few easter cards, a few passover cards.

1 | 2 | 3 | 4

my husband and i have been invited to a friend's house for seder the past few years, and i have to say, i've really developed a taste (maybe even a craving?) for matzah with pickled horseradish. yum yum.

anyways, if you celebrate either of these two upcoming events, these cards might just be the perfect thing.

potw: spring forward

spring fever is in full effect over here.

one taste of a sunshine-filled 60-degree day and i'm going crazy for warmer temperatures.

i haven't done a press of the week since i got back from maternity leave, so to get it started up again, here's six cheery designs.

1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6

ONLY TEN DAYS LEFT OF WINTER. ten!

dig it.

potw: haunted

i can pretty much take or leave halloween.

it's never been my thing. well, besides the candy part.

but i know a lot of people who really love it. and if you're one of those people, maybe you'd like one of these halloween cards. in letterpress format of course.

1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6

and if there's anything that could turn me into being a halloween lover, it's gotta be a frenchie with batwings.

potw: equinox

fall's officially here. i've mentioned a few times on here that fall is not my favorite season. i love summer and always have. but there's something nice about feeling a slight chill in the air when you step outside in the morning. it's the same sensation you get some time in march or april when you finally start to feel that maybe warmer weather and blue skies are actually on their way.

since sunday was the first fall day, i thought some autumn-themed letterpress goods would be a good fit for this week's potw.

1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6

here's to cooler temps, changing leaves and finally being able to wear that jacket i bought.

potw: mark it down

1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5

in a few months, there will probably be more of a selection, but some early bird printers have already started offering their 2014 calendars.

there's lots to choose from: desk, wall, oversized.

i buy one every year for my office at work to pretty up the space. the walls are a really sad shade of seafoam that look even more pathetic under the fluorescent lights.

fun fact: i couldn't ever spell fluorescent correctly (without fixing it in spell check) until i worked at a cancer nonprofit for six years. one of the most commonly seen drugs was one called "fluorouracil" and now that "f-l-u" construction is now drilled into my brain.

happy monday!

potw: and many more

my birthday is coming up. when i was a younger, i alway hated my "late" birthday.

last one to turn 13, 16, 21, etc.

that changed when i got to thirty and got to savor those few months where i was still 29 and all my crotchety old classmates were 30. so crucial, right? ;)

anyways, between tomorrow and september 5 (my birthday!) there are three other special people in my life celebrating their big day. it's actually part of why i'm going down to florida, so we can all get together.

1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6

and a french bulldog holding an orange balloon? too cute.

happy birthday to anyone else celebrating one soon.

potw: i love dc

i can't believe i've never done a dc-focused press of the week.

the truth is, most of these aren't letterpress pieces. a few are, but most of them are just some cool art i found while poking around etsy.

1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6

i think any of these would make a cute addition to your home or apartment.

the heart map one is especially cute to me.

potw: write it down

a friend at work recently gave me a set of three notepads. for a list lover like me, having a fresh place to jot things down is the best. i make lists constantly. to-do lists for work, grocery store shopping lists, things to get done over the weekend, restaurants i want to try. anything.

if you like to write things down as well, here's some cute notepads you might want to buy.

1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6

it's been awesome having these new notepads, and i keep one in my purse at all times. because with me, if i don't write it down almost immediately, i'll probably forget it.

we've all forgotten a birthday at some point.

here's some cute cards to make up for it.

1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6

and i don't mind if someone forgets my birthday. it's always kinda nice to get some bday love after it's officially passed.

1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6

there's a ton of cute options out there.

potw: welcome summer

in my mind, summer officially kicks off on memorial day weekend, but its official arrival is tomorrow.

i'm slowly getting back into blogging after my vacation, so i thought i'd kick it off with some fun summery designs.

ice cream, sunshine, crabs, sandals, lazy sunset bike rides. these things mean summer to me.

from top left: 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8

this time of year is my fave.

potw: simple

sometimes, simple is best.

no crazy designs, no flourishes, just pretty letterpress with no pretense.

1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6

any of these catch your eye?

potw: dad's day

father's day is june 16 this year.

you could get one of these cards now and have plenty of time to put it in the mail and get it to him.

1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6

he'd be so impressed by your punctuality.

blank cards are perfect for having on hand when you want to send a note.

you can stock up on them and use them whenever you like...for whatever you like.

1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6

and now i want one of these chocolate-dipped cones. like really.

i need one.

everyone makes mistakes. it happens.

here's a few cute ways to show just how sorry you are.

1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6

i'm partial to the french bulldog one (or is that an english bulldog?) of course.
