friday finds II

well, i did this last friday and had fun putting it together, so i thought i'd do another one.

i really wanted to keep it less than $50 because that's just such a nice arbitrary cutoff, but i saw those wedges on sale for $59.99 and had to up this one to less than $60.

still works, right?

this picture just makes me happy. i took it earlier this year at standard. still one of my favorite places to go, even among all the newcomers to 14th street. and hey. did you know they're open late (and serve food late) on sunday nights?

i took this picture a few years ago when the boy and i were stuck in crazy traffic on the way to nats park (go nats btw!) 

that bird just looked so free to me while i was decidedly not at that moment.

well, we made it to another friday.

and a somewhat warm one, if you're in the d.c. area. i'm signing off for the week and leaving you all with one of my favorite pipe dream cars (the other being a convertible, old-style vw bug). 

i saw this picture yesterday and i just wanted to propel myself through the screen and hop in.

if you're the type who is inclined to use an emoticon, what do you roll with?

me? i like the colon-space-parentheses way. i think with the space, he (?) looks friendlier and less like his bottom lip is about to eat his eyes.

i can't stand emoticons with noses, whether it's the dash or lowercase o.

a former boss of mine was hyperloyal to the lowercase o construction. it made me want to choke her every time i saw that in an e-mail. like, it made me irrationally angry. listen bosslady, i don't see a smiley face. i see bozo the freaking clown. enough.

i'm firmly in the yeah camp on this one. when i see 'yea,' i hear it as 'yay' in my head.

i've also seen 'ya' from time to time. this always calls to mind horses and a stagecoach. (ya! ya! giddyup!)

yesterday, 13th and U

this weekend, we're off to florida. my brother's getting married in october and his fiance's bridal shower is this weekend. 

i'm taking a half day so we can make our 5:00 flight with ease. i'm in the hurry-up-and-wait camp when it comes to traveling. just get me to the gate so i can relax...for an hour.

i saw at least four people on twitter today who were marveling at how quickly june flew by.

i mean, i know the summer always goes by in a flash, but i'm jumping on the i-can't-believe-it's-already-july bandwagon today too.
